CELEBRATING SUCCESS IN THE
GEOGRAPHY DEPARTMENT!!

At the end of last term awards for Effort and
Achievement were given to two pupils in
each class in every year group. Those pupils
who worked very well and produced
outstanding work received a certificate and
letter fromthe department. Pupils and
parents have beenin touch to show thier
thanks. Keep up the excellent work!!

STUDENT VOICE - GCSE INTERVIEWS

Megan Allsopp, Tara Ashton, Dale Tumulty and Ali Campbell took part in a GCSE Geography review interview. The aim of the session was tofind out how pupils really feel about GCSE Geography at KHS in terms of thier learning,
understanding, level of interest and enjoyment. The responses were very positive and now improvements can be made to make GCSE Geography a more effective subject.

CARBON CUTTERS IN TALKS WITH THE HEADTEACHER

Two members of the Carbon Cutters environmental group (Alex Watson and Joe Winterton) dicussed a range of environmental issues with the Headteacher on Monday 17th December. Both pupils felt that the meeting was a real success with Mr Davies pledging his support for a cleaner, greener and more environmentally aware school.



GEOGRAPHY ACTION WEEK

Geography Action Week took place
between the 12th and the 16th of
November. This years theme was
'China'. All pupils took part in a
form quiz. Many pupils entered
the 'Images of China' competition.
Short films were shown during
lunchtimes and pupils sampled
traditional chineese food.
LEISURE AND TOURISM VISIT

All Yr11 Leisure and Tourism students spent the day at @Bristol, an interactive science museum. The aim of the visit was to investigate Customer Service techniques.
Students took part in a Customer Service Workshop and they then took time to research a variety of customer service methods at @Bristol.
The day was a great success and all students benefitted greatly.

AS GEOGRAPHY FIELDWORK


All AS Geographers recently took

part in some local fieldwork

research. Pupils examined the river

Lemon and it's flood defence systems.

All pupils enjoyed the day out and

developed a valuable case study.
